Belvoir is French for beautiful view but is pronounced as ‘beaver’. Dating from 1822 it’s built on the site of an earlier Norman castle. It was used as a film location for “The Davinci Code” and “the Haunting”. It’s where the tradition of afternoon tea was first established. And … there’s the mystery of the secret chambers, a poltergiest in the Chinese Room and it was once the lair of the Belvoir witches.
