Breamore House is a gabled Elizabethan manor located near to the town of Fordingbridge and overlooking the Avon Valley. It was rebuilt in 1583 by William Dodington who had purchased the original manorial estate from Sir Christopher Hatton in 1580. It has been the scene of numerous tragedies including matricide and mysterious illnesses. It’s the home of a cursed portrait that may have inspired the enchanted painting of Mrs Black in the much read ‘Harry Potter’ series of books by J K Rowling. It was once visited by Queen Elizabeth I and has been home to some of Britain’s most illustrious physicians.
